Burbank, CA (September 20, 2016) – Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen is adding another special correspondent to its already impressive roster, announcing today that New York Times–bestselling author and community activist Kim Goldman will join the Daytime Emmy®–nominated show, which has just begun its second season. Goldman will make her Crime Watch Daily debut this Wednesday, September 21, with an explosive interview with Sitora Yusufiy, the former wife of Orlando (Fla.) Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen.
Goldman became known as a victims’ rights advocate following the 1994 murder of her brother, Ron, and the subsequent trial of O.J. Simpson. She currently serves as the Executive Director of The Youth Project, a non-profit organization that provides free counseling, support groups, crisis intervention, education and outreach to teenagers, serving more than 25,000 students in the Santa Clarita (Calif.) Valley (North Los Angeles County). She also currently hosts Broadscast, a national radio show and podcast for women featuring some of the most compelling voices in parenting, lifestyle, relationships, pop culture and topics that matter to women everywhere.
Goldman joins Crime Watch Daily’s primary correspondents Jason Mattera, Ana Garcia, Andrea Isom and Michelle Sigona.
“Kim Goldman represents every family who has suffered through a tragedy,” says show creator/executive producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey. “She shines a light on the collateral damage that exists in every crime. We are honored to have Kim on the team to bring a unique perspective no one else can to our reporting.”
In this role, she will continue to give a voice to those affected by crime, connecting with victims through her personal experience and providing a comfortable environment to share personal stories with someone who can relate.
“I am proud to join the impressive ‘Crime Watch Daily’ team,” says Goldman. “As a crime victim and victim advocate myself, I recognize the importance of having your story be heard. Being given the opportunity to help other victims and survivors tell their story is a true honor and privilege.”
Goldman will continue her work as the founding Co-Chair of The Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice and will continue to sit on the board of the National Center for Victims of Crime, collaborating with numerous victim/survivor organizations across the country.
“Kim Goldman has emerged as a powerful voice for crime victims,” says executive producers Jeremy Spiegel and Scott Eldridge. “She knows firsthand how a crime can ravage a family and she will provide a point of view most people never get to see. We are excited to add her storytelling to ‘Crime Watch Daily.’”
